St Peter’s is the parish church for Bentley in Doncaster. The Bible says that nothing is lasts for ever, except faith, hope and love. The greatest of these is love.
We want to help people in Bentley come to a living faith in Jesus, experience real hope in the face of difficult times and know the height, width and depth of the love of God shown to us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Our Family Church service is on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am. We call it Family Church because we’re like a family where everyone is welcome. If you’re looking for somewhere to belong, we’ve got you covered. You’ll feel at home if you are young, old, married or single. Church is for everyone and that includes you.
If you prefer something quieter and more reflective, we also meet on Wednesdays, also at 10:30am, for Holy Communion. This service is about 40 minutes and includes a sermon and a couple of hymns.
There are two services to choose from each week, both start at 10.30am.
SUNDAY
Family Church is relaxed in style. About a third of the congregation are children. Everyone is welcome and the children go over to the community hall for groups aimed at them. The service lasts around an hour and a quarter. Tea and coffee is served afterwards.
WEDNESDAY
Holy Communion on Wednesday is tradition Common Worship Order One with a couple of hymns. We stick around afterwards for cups of tea too.
There is no need to dress up to come to church at St Peter’s. Come as you are. The Vicar usually wears jeans with his clergy shirt and that sets the tone.
Many of our congregation live close enough to walk to church. This is good news for the environment and healthy for you too!
You can get to us by public transport. The 361/362/363 buses runs from town every 10 minutes during the week and the 363 every 30 minutes on a Sunday. The bus stop is opposite Heron, about 2 minutes walk away and right outside the building for the return journey. Bentley also has a train station which is a leisurely 7 minute stroll away.
If you have to drive, we do have a small car park at the church, outside the Community Hall.
The postcode is DN5 0AA and if you’re a What3Words kinda person, we’re at \\\scouts.urban.guides
We arrange our church life in five areas. We call these our ABCDE, we think you’ll guess why!
The first priority of any church is to worship God. We do this through prayer, singing and our liturgy when we’re together and through daily lives lived in service of God. We prioritise our services and work hard to do this well.
Church isn’t an ‘organisation’, we’re a family. We want everyone who comes through our doors to belong. We also want to create a wider family of people who belong and feel like St Peter’s is their safe place.
Jesus showed compassion to those around Him. We want to follow His example in demonstrating the love of God to those around us. We are currently reviewing how we can best do that.
If adoration is how we relate to God when we’re together, discipleship is about our personal walk with God. We are focused on reading the Bible and growing to love God with our heart, soul, mind and strength.
We want to share the Good News that Jesus saves with everyone in Bentley in a way that makes sense to them. We currently offer Alpha, but are looking at other ways to spread the message further and faster.
We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.Â
We don’t like to operate out of hierarchy or power structures. Instead we want healthy relationships to be the mark of our church. This can be complicated, relationships can be hard, but we’re committed to that.
We will try and make ethical decisions to help ensure that we are promoting justice and equality wherever we can. This is particularly true when it comes to purchasing decisions.
We will always go the extra mile to give the best to Bentley. What we provide is good quality, well done and we always offer our best.
